I've got the day off, waiting for the game and doing some bored research.

Since round 18, 2021 we have had 28 players debut including CT and Nu today.
Only 3 have been local juniors and none of them are in the team ATM. Couchy Twins and Connor.

Since 2020 we have had 10 juniors make their NRL debut with us and only Sloan has retained a FG spot.

Doesn't say much about retention, the pathway program. In my day and I kniw its a long time ago , the identification, the development and the retention of our clubs juniors was one of the most important investments any club could have. Those statistics that you have mentioned is extremely poor and don't think for one minute that these kids playing HM, Jersey Flegg aren't aware the chances of pulling on a 1st grade jersey with the red v is very low. We need to desperately change that culture.

Wasn't the vast junior nursery down the South Coast supposed to be the draw card for merging with the Steelers? What happened?

Had a chat with Josh today.
He looks good, been training everyday on his own.
Mario is shopping him around and we are on the list.

Personally I've been enthusiastic about signing him from the start. He'd be signed to play 5/8 and there would have to be performance clauses in his contract. Like he'd have to remain below 95kg or somewhere around that. I haven't seen too much of him play but I think he's a good ball player who would be a perfect foil for Hunt who lacks ball playing ability.

Furthermore, I think the club has high hopes in Lyhkan King-Togia. I rate him from what I've seen but he's also primarily a ball runner. So a long-term deal would also work in theory.

hell no to schuster, he needs a proper development club. if he/his manager only care about money then i dont want him. his manager should be telling him to take minimum to train at panthers/storm etc. a proper development club.
