I'm not going to cast aspersions at jodragon40 jodragon40 opinion but I see a problem swapping Woods for Sims. That being one is an out and our backrower and one an out and out prop. It's not that they can't be changed but it's like swapping a centre for winger or a 5/8 for a centre.

yeah, swapping Woods with Sims could make the pack a little light.

Does anyone know who the hell Billy Smith is? Wasn't he the halfback during the time of the 11 premierships in a row? Isn't he too old to make a comeback?

St George Illawarra Dragons vs Penrith Panthers at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, 6.00pm

Last week’s Dragons team: 1. Tyrell Sloan 2. Cody Ramsey 3. Moses Suli 4. Zac Lomax 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Talatau Amone 7. Ben Hunt 8. Blake Lawrie 9. Andrew McCullough 10. Aaron Woods 11. Jack Bird 12. Jaydn Su’A 13. Jack de Belin 14. Moses Mbye 15. Francis Molo 16. Josh Kerr 17. Jack Gosiewski

Team Tips: Prop Aaron Woods is in doubt with a hamstring injury, which could see George Burgess make his debut for the club. Billy Smith returns from a foot injury, while Tariq Sims is due back from a calf complaint in a timely boost for the Dragons. Halfback Jayden Sullivan is due back from a hamstring injury but may struggle to get into the team.

Makes sense but Jack de Belin is definitely not a backrower. I'd go with Sims starting and Bird on the bench.
Griffin won't start Sims if Molo starts. However if he picks Debelin to take Woods place then Sims will start Molo off bench

That's not what I said or meant. This is my starting pack for Panthers - Front Row - Lawrie McCullough Molo, 2nd row - Debelin Sua and Lock - Bird. Bench Sims Kerr Mbye and Goliewski. Now if Griffin decides not to replace Woods with Molo (specialist prop for prop) then Debelin goes to prop to partner Lawrie and Sims starts in 2nd row with Molo off the bench. I would start with my 1st choice but I'm not the coach.

They must mean Billy Burns.

De Belin is lock or prop. Not an edge backrower. I'd bet anything I have on it.

NRL Power Rankings - Round 1

4 – St George Illawarra Dragons

The Dragons won, which is obviously a good start. They won away, too, which is even better. They won away against the Warriors, however, so it’s not a real away tie – and the Warriors are the tipper’s graveyard. Nobody has a clue what a win over them will be worth in a month’s time.

Things are looking up for St George Illawarra, especially with their young spine, and they passed the first test with flying colours. Next week against Penrith will give a better gauge on where they are, but for now, they’re in fourth.

Our inexorable revival is gaining some very serious momentum. If we win on Friday, the media is going to go wild.

Will have to improve by at least 50% to beat Penrith if they play anything like they did in round 1.

Panthers were very impressive it will be a big test. My expectations are that we are competitive with the bench mark team of the competition. We have to match them in the forwards last week 4 forwards ran for 100m plus we need the same this week at the very least.

You maybe correct but the coach feels he better serves the team at 2nd row at moment. Bird won't lose his spot only alternative is moving him to prop to replace Woods. Be interesting to see if Molo starts or Debelin gets the prop spot. We will know tomorrow

I'm tipping de Belin to remain starting lock. The pack for the first and last 20min was really good. The interchange forwards failed to keep the momentum. Moving Kerr to prop is another option. Kerr starting prop, Molo on the bench and Sims on the bench might work.

Moses Leota is out for them. That's a big loss for them but good news for us.

Dragons coach Anthony Griffin is expected to name Tariq Sims in his 17-man squad for the match against the Panthers. Aaron Woods is out for at least a week with a minor hamstring strain. Sims, recovered from a calf injury, played NSW Cup last weekend to get match fitness.

“He can play on the edge or in the middle,” Griffin said. George Burgess also played NSW Cup and is expected to be named in the club’s 24-man squad on Tuesday.

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS v PENRITH PANTHERS

Friday, 6pm, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Sydney

Dragons:
State of Origin forward Tariq Sims is expected to be named in the 17-man squad after playing NSW Cup last week.

Aaron Woods (hamstring) is out for at least a week, while George Burgess will be somewhere in the 24-man line-up.

Panthers: Moses Leota is set to miss an extended period due to a shoulder injury sustained in the win over the Sea Eagles.

Demoted to NSW Cup last weekend, Matt Eisenhuth likely gains a recall, with either he or Spencer Leniu starting at prop.

Nathan Cleary is still expected to be a few weeks away from a return.

I'm talking about De Belin not being a second rower. Bird will retain his place in the second row.
